Research Cell:

"If the University System has to discharge adequately its responsibility to the entire education system and to the society as a whole, it must assume extension a the third important responsibility & give it the same status as research and teaching."

In keeping with the above view and the objectives of any good teacher training institution, BTTC promotes various kinds of research in education that involves both the faculty and the students.

The main kinds of research in education promoted are: -

  1. Action Research,
  2. Project – related Research,
  3. Research leading to a Doctoral Degree in Education.

Till date 57 persons have been awarded Ph. D. Degrees.

Some of our Research programmes and activities are: -

Research Guidance and Motivation:

The institution motivates the faculty and alumni, besides the present students to undertake research work leading to a doctoral degree.

The faculty also guides and advises the pre-primary, primary, secondary and higher-secondary teachers of our practicing schools in the research projects that they undertake.

Teacher educators also guide and advise the student teachers in their Action Research Projects, an essential part in the B. Ed. Course of University of Mumbai.

At present the following teacher educators are recognised guides for research leading to Doctoral Degree in Education: -

Educational Research Committee:

Since its inception, BTTC has had a research committee. At present the committee comprises of the following members: -

  • Dr. (Mrs.) Mandeep Kochar - Member

AIAER Membership:

The college has taken the initiative to start the Mumbai Chapter of AIAER and is active in playing a key role in this direction. As a result all the teacher educators have become Individual Life Members of All India Association of Educational Research (AIAER)

Research Publication:

The college has published the following instructional pamphlets in the field of educational research:

  • “Methods & Styles of Thesis Writing” by Dr. B. P. Lulla
  • “Action Research” by Dr. S. K. Murthy
  • “Introduction to Statistics” by Dr. A. N. Mishra

Paper Presentations:

The faculty members have presented papers on diverse topics in various local, regional, national and international seminars & conferences

Library Facilities:

The library is well equipped to meet and fulfill the requirements of the researcher in all fields of education. Latest books are available on the ever-progressing fields of education such as Educational Management, Educational Psychology as well as Educational Technology. Periodicals & Journals on Educational Research are subscribed.

The college has a computer laboratory, wherein the computers with Internet facility are available for pursuing research work.
